Problem Framing
Getting the question right before looking for answers.
What It Is
A workshop format that separates what we know from what we assume. Most research fails not because the method was wrong but because the question was. Problem framing is how you avoid that.
How It Works
Gather the team. Map every assumption on a board. Categorize each one by confidence level — what do we actually have evidence for, what are we guessing, and what are we completely in the dark about. Then identify which gaps matter most for the decisions ahead.
What It Produces
A prioritized list of unknowns. Clarity on what we're actually trying to learn, and agreement across the team about where research time should go. This becomes the foundation for everything that follows — research questions, method selection, participant criteria.
